LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence. Through design, construction and operations practices that improve environmental and human health, LEED-certified buildings are helping to make the world more sustainable.
786 Third Ave, home to Coast Surgical Group, achieved LEED Gold certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. Green buildings allow companies to operate more sustainably and give the people inside them a healthier, more comfortable space to work and visit.

Above and Beyond - The Campaign for Sharp Chula Vista
Sharp HealthCare Foundation is grateful to Coast Surgical for their recent gift of $25,000 in support of the expansion at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. Together with Coast Surgical, Sharp Chula Vista will embark on a journey to go Above & Beyond to build a next-generation hospital and lead the way in advanced medicine.
A great hospital provides clinical excellence with thoughtful consideration for the people it is privileged to serve.
The new hospital will include:
• 5 high-tech surgical suites
• A unique and versatile hybrid operating room
• 10 private intensive care rooms
• 138 private patients rooms
• Rooftop café with panoramic views of San Diego
On May 9, 2016, Dr. Hugo Barrera, on behalf of Coast Surgical, presented Dr. Pablo Velez, CEO of Sharp Chula Vista, with not just one, but two checks in support of the building project. In addition to the check from Coast Surgical, Dr. Barrera made a personal contribution of $10,000 to show his support of his home hospital. The presentation and party took place at the beautiful home of Doug and Barb Fuller, campaign chairs. With a goal of raising $50 million, the Above & Beyond campaign is the most ambitious philanthropic effort in our hospital’s history.
Our community’s shared vision and generosity will bring new levels of medical care and innovation to San Diego.
